I don't know if someone affiliated with the Ottawa-based KJP Hardwoods has a thing for Les Pauls or what. But I went there with my older son today for him to price out some stuff, and there was a veritable mountain of maple "thin slices", all about 9-10" wide, 1/4-3/8" thick, 24-30" long, and priced from $4-7 a piece. I sifted through the pile and found two pieces big enough for a nice top when trimmed. Not techically bookmatched, but very very close, with a lovely flame that will surely look great when stained, given how nice it looks unstained. Twelve bucks, plus tax!
