Last Saturday, I was browsing Cosmo music store here in Toronto. My intention was to find some new inspiration on my next project. So I picked up this Ibanez Tosin Abasi Sig (I believe that they have stopped making these anymore) and it was in fact my first time playing an 8 strings. The overall experience was fun and worthwhile so I thought I will film this journey and share it with you all. So I found myself a bit skeptical at first since the fret is ridiculously wide and it was so difficult to fret a chord lol! With a little over an hour playing, I stared to find more and more fun, it also encouraged me to play things differently.
In the video, I will share my options about a) What’s the difference among 6,7 and 8-strings guitar? b) pick up an 7s or an 8s? c) what type of player suitable to 8-strings ? d) any pricing difference to consider buying one.
After all, I wanna not only doing progressive metal music, I wanna do a little experimental stuff in jazz context and I must say, these trials had been all positive and FUN! Hope anyone likes this!
