I have a '72 Tele Deluxe reissue with the wide humbuckers. Are there any manufacturers that make pickups to fit?I like the guitar a lot but want a different sound without changing the pickguard.

GFS makes direct replacements that are closer to spec to the original wide range Deluxe pickups. I can tell you the originals sound WAY different too. My buddy has an original Tele Deluxe. The new ones are basically just a humbucker built into that shell. The old ones were a unique pickup design.

That's a drag if they changed the pickups! I had (don't ask, it's amazing what we deal when we're hungry) an original Deluxe and those humbuckers were heaven sent. The local mom'n'pop music shop had a reissue in for a setup recently and I was almost afraid to look at the thing as it was visually identical to mine and 25 years later I still have seperation anxiety...Why oh why do the screw with the spirit of good guitars?

Peace, Mooh.
