Even if the Bruins weren't the team I root for, I'd have to choose them.
My friends and I did our annual playoff pool last night. I pick based on who I think will be the conference finalists, so I picked a lot of Bruins, Avs and Canes. The one phrase I read about Boston was "no discernable weaknesses."

I want Edmonton to go deep this year. McDavid deserves it.
I picked the Avs to repeat. Mostly because I just couldn’t allow myself to opt for the Bruins.

And, being a life-long Leafs fan, of course I couldn’t pick the Buds to win it all either.
I am anticipating that the Bruins will meet the Leafs in the 2nd round, and the second that's confirmed, butts will be clenching audibly in Leaf Nation.

That said, the playoffs are a war of attrition, and anything is possible. Some goalie we've never heard of could come in and stand on his head with fireworks shooting out of his ears (if we're lucky!) and win the Conn Smythe. That's why the playoff are so much fun.

One down,... 3 to go. Bruins outshot but manage to pull off the win.
Oilers vs Kings a bit of a shock as L.A. takes it in OT. Penalty issues with Oilers seemed to make the difference.
Canes squeak by Islanders and Minnesota wins a wild one in double OT over Dallas.

Bad blood starting to already show in some series,... looks like fun times ahead, 👊
Well, end of the 2nd.

Complete and utter failure. Back to the drawing board fellas.

I just tuned in.

I have tuned back out.

Go Bruins!

If you can't beat em, join em.

Leafs shit the bed real good tonight. I tuned in as they were down 3-2 in the second. Things just went downhill from there..

Leafs shit the bed real good after original six expansion. I tuned in around 1967 and the league had added six more teams. Things just went downhill from there..

I don't like the Bruins, but they are so good I have to think it is their year.
My heart is always with the Leafs though.

Things went downhill from the opening faceoff.
The Leafs weren't prepared to play a preseason game let alone start the playoffs.

After 50 years as a Leaf fan, I'm seriously considering giving up watching hockey altogether after last night. They deserve to lose. No heart, no compete, too much in their own head, and they need to bench Bunting for the rest of the first round.

I was literally drafting a similar post in my head.

I don’t think I’ll still be able to support this team if they go out of the first round again. Especially if they don’t put up a fight. One game does not make the series, and they are more than capable (on paper) to be the victors here, but that was pathetic.

If they go out with a whimper, I’m likely done as a hockey fan. My patience as a Leaf supporter will have been (finally) pushed beyond the limits, but I can’t imagine actually supporting anyone else. My heart just wouldn’t be in it.
