How Robbie Krieger of The Doors ended up buying a Renaissance guitar
As I mentioned in my "New User" post, I've been a fan of Rick Turner/Renaissance guitars for awhile and in that time I've also got to know Rick to the point where we talk almost every other week. I've helped him out with some general business issues along the way and we've been become friends over that time. One of the benefits of that friendship has been hearing the number of stories Rick has accumulated over the years.
There isn't really a forum that jumps out at me as being a good category for this stuff and my apologies to the people that run the site if I'm posting things in the wrong spot.
Even though he doesn't show up until #76 of the recent "Top 100 Guitarists" list recently released by Rolling Stone, you can't deny that what The Doors accomplished in the 60's was important and that Robbie Krieger played a huge role in defining their sound. Plus, you can't deny it's pretty cool to have a member of The Doors playing one of your guitars!
The story goes like this - in the early 2000's, Robbie Krieger was looking for a new guitar to play on an upcoming tour they were planning so a guitar shop Hollywood literally closed up shop so he could spend a day going through all of the instruments they had. After several hours, Robbie selected the Renaissance RN6. He started playing this guitar on all live performances of Spanish Caravan.
Later on in about 2006 or 2007, Robbie Krieger himself called Renaissance directly and spoke to Rick and asked him to build an RN6 with the addition of an internal tapping pickup. In videos after this date you can see Robbie Krieger playing the custom RN6.
There are literally dozens of youtube videos with Robbie Krieger playing one of his RN 6's. Below is a link to a recent one from youtube.

Although we currently don't have any RN 6's in stock we can facilitate and expidite an order for you if you are interested.
