http://london.en.craigslist.ca/msg/

When I typed this in it went to london UK's craigslist. There seems to be an unusually large number of vintage USA guitars. What do you all think.

A flight to london is like $350 on a good day and if your heart is set on a guitar, well?

It seems like no one over here is parting with their stuff. Any thoughts ?

The strat is a refin. It also has graphite nut and, if I read this all caps ad right, it's been refretted, some electronics changed and a slight route. That would definitely devalue the guitar.

Another 5 years from now, maybe a lot sooner, sites like this one right here will be the only place you can go to get away from the scammers and fakes.

they're already the best way to avoid them.
i have made several purchases from other forums for non musical stuff.
in my mind it's the safest way to go because you can view the seller's previous posts to see what kind of person they are. you know who you are dealing with better, and that person is usually more invested into the forum community they post on. less likely to pull something because that means leaving the forum, and never coming back, or changing your ip addy, username and posting style/personality. otherwise someone would recognize you. even some folks who post on similar forums
