I just posted my newest tune onto Soundclick, called Cadillac Fins. Its a guitar instrumental, so no lyrics. I'd appreciate any comments anyone might have on it. Recorded via a POD into an M-Audio soundcard, with Reaper:

I listened to it about 5 or 6 times...sounds pretty good...kind of reminds me of the good old tunes back in the 50's or 60's or something...I might try a different type of lead on it myself instead of distortion guitar..maybe something a little more old fashion country/early rock type of lead...more double stops and rhythm lead type of thing...I think this would sound really good with some violin in it like the song "Stand By Me"..I would also only play those beginning chords once at the beginning instead of playing them again.

I like the song...I would just change a few things and tweak it a bit.

awesome bagpipe- i really like it. all your tunes have a real atmosphere to them.
if your tunes where the soundtrack to a movie about my life- it would be 1990 and id be driving my old 67 dodge, vaguely lost somewhere north of sudbury drinking beer and eating tylenol 3s as the sun comes up.

Fraser, you need to put that in a song... that's perfect!

Thanks for the nice comments and taking the time to listen. Vincent, I agree about the solo - the distorted lead sounds a bit "out of place". I initially tried it with a cleaner tone but, as usual, I struggled to find "anything to say" with that tone, so I reverted back to my old crutch of adding distortion. It would have sounded better with just a touch of dirt, but I dialed in too much.

Fraser, I think this will be the basis for the next thing I'll be working on. Probably needs a snappier title though:

"it would be 1990 and id be driving my old 67 dodge, vaguely lost somewhere north of sudbury drinking beer and eating tylenol 3s as the sun comes up."

Just wanted to follow up and say that I really do like the song...Im listening to it again ...its a very mellow old time sound which I love...If you had vocals in the song then you probably wouldnt even have lead/solo guitar in this song...sometimes we just play lead to fill things up in place of vocals...some sax would sound great as well in this with little bits of violin to enhance certain parts...I can almost hear the parts in my head while listening to it even though I dont play sax or violin.

Love the bluesbreakers avatar by the way...I basically learned that whole album years ago...Hideway is a sweet tune to learn and play not to mention many others on that record.
