Let's take a look at some of the ugliest guitars you have ever seen. I mean downright fugly guitars.

I have a guitar that is sooooo ugly, I made a truss rod cover with UG1 lettered on it (for Ugly Guitar 1)
I'm on the road now, but later this week I'll take some pix and post them.
Be warned, it's so ugly it's sad.
It's a white Guild solid body, neck thru the body, I never knew the model.
It was routed for God knows what, by an unskilled hobbyist, who never finished the job, so there's a big hole in it.
I replaced the tuners with Gibson Tuners from a 74 Les Paul. (the LP was upgraded to Grovers, and these were left laying around)
It has a poorly installed Brass Nut.
That's when it was named UG-1.
Next, I loaned it to a friend / student in need of a guitar in the 90s. She had it in her closet when when her house burnt to the ground!
The charred / water damaged case was found in the rubble.
When what was left of the the case was peeled away, the UG-1 remained!
Covered with soot, and slightly burnt. She gave it back to me...
That was about 10 years ago. I threw it (case-less) under a table in a home studio, where it still resides.
Later duuudes....

LOL
That Wangcaster is hilarious. And brutally ugly, to boot. The alien guitar barely compares, although it is very strange. As for the American guitar, cheesy for sure. Alaskans and Hawaiians ought to be grateful for having been exempted.
Penis guitar wins so far, hands down. I'd love to see some other examples though.
As for the Parkers, I think they're cool. I guess ugly is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm quite certain the alien guitar was a concept, from Steve Vai's Ultra Zone album cover, built to scale (of some sort).

One word UUGGGHHHH. What do you think people are thinking when they make guitars like these :S. Well maybe they're just being creative... I guess sometimes it is better to just think inside the box XD.

Well, the top one is cool... I've seen it somewhere before. A pic of it, I mean. And it's sure not ugly to my eyes... daunting in its complexity, sure. I'd love to have it for a few days, just to tinker with it, see what it can produce.
The foot one is... well, words fail me.

That lefty Martin.... I wouldn't call it ugly so much as over the top, totally baroque... waaaaaay too much pretty detailing for my tastes. Six figure price tag, too eh? Wow.

I want one--I wouldn't refer to this as any form of ugly--odd--yes, but if I had the cash I'd be tempted.
I like the US shaped one--I'd love to see a Canada map one.
I guess this really is beauty in the eye of the beholder (although some of these are quite ugly.) I've always found tortoise shell pickguards ugly, but some people love them.
I'd have to say the ugliest production model (not the custom jobs that have mostly filled this thread) is the Ovation Breadwinner (http://fretboardjournal.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/catalog2.jpg).
I'll be on the lookout for guitars to add.

LOL
You know, I used to know a Toronto guitarist back in the early 80s who had a trans cherry Breadwinner. It was a beautiful guitar. I always dug its dynamic lines. Goes to show how subjective it all is. I'd kill to run across a used Breadwinner on Craigslist or Kajiji...
Yeah, I knew a guy in high school in the '70s who had a Breadwinner. I've always liked the lines too. The only ones I've heard since have sounded good too.
Peace, Mooh.

I don't know if it's ugly so much as overdone and gaudy-And I love Les Pauls-

Ugly? No. Overdone and gaudy? Yep. Looks like real museum piece, though. I wouldn't be comfortable playing it, for a variety of reasons.

Some of those are mighty odd, not necessarily ugly--but odd--
Okay some are ugly.
-I actually like the split level doubleneck--it looks cool.
-The people who make the skull guitar make some odd electrics--none really catch my eye--and this acoustic (http://www.guitarsla.com/product/traditional-bajo-quinto-with-white-micas) qualifies as a contender in ugliest acoustic.
-Check out the White castles amps on the other goodies page--and check out past years--some cool stuff and some "huh?" stuff.
Thanks for posting the link.

The 'Dokdo-Korea' guitar. For those of you who aren't in the know, the Liancourt Rocks/Dokdo/Takeshima is a little islet located between Korea and Japan. These two countries share the fishing rights, but it is in South Korean territorial waters (Korean soldiers are on the island). The governments of these two countries use the dispute over the possession of the islet to fan nationalistic sentiment, although the South Korean government does so in much greater degree. Ask Sneakypete. I bet he has never heard of the dispute, or very little of it.
Here in Korea, it was all over the news, in TV ads, on stamps, children were taught songs about it in school, etc.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liancourt_Rocks
Much ado about nothing, really. Possession is 9/10 of the law, and South Korea is in possession of the islet.
