I heard this song on Sunday and became obsessed with it to the point where I had to learn to play it.

In my opinion, this is a beautiful song.

Also great, particularly Halford, but I prefer the harmonization in Joan's version

It is a great song. Judas Priest seems to change the arrangement on every tour, so you get a different version of the song every year. The SOD version is great too, in a very original way..........

When I saw Priest a few years ago I fell in love with that tune too. Having never heard it before I simply couldn't believe it was a Joan Baez tune. (I grew up on the East Coast we didn't have FM radio where I was) Love that song!

There's a very similar case with Joni Mitchell's "This Flight Tonight". Nazareth's version is fantastic and yet quite different than Joni's.

Both are great in their own ways.

I suppose it illustrates how a well written song can be interpreted in different ways and still work.

It almost seems the folkies have the upperhand there, as far as songwirters are concerned.

Joni's "Woodstock", compared to covers by CSNY and/or Matthews' Southern Comfort.

Dylan's "Watchtower" as compared to the version by whassisname.....

Joni again with Big Yellow Taxi, as coverd by almost everybody.

I've often thought that songs with the most immediate impact are songs that work equally well with a guitar and a campfire, or a full-out production. This is not to say that Gustav Mahler was a hack.

I couldn't agree more and have always loved a really well done cover.

I really enjoyed that and it's not my usual cup of tea.
