I am a thirty something and I have to admit that I know Garcia played guitar with the Greatful Dead. Other than that I have know idea who he is. If he was standing in front of me and singing a Greatful Dead song, I wouldn't recognize him or the song. I couldn't even name one of their songs. Sad but true - and that's not a Metallica quote of the day.

Back in the early 80's Guitar Player featured Zappa on the cover with that guitar. It still had the melted pickups in it and Frank had installed Hot Dots in the neck.

My guess is that he isn't big on mojo. I read somewhere that he likes to buy the cheaper Strats second-hand (Mexicans and Squires) and customize them himself.

yah, that jives. i met him some years ago while he was touring music stores with that wiggy amp (he makes it sound great, i can't get a tone out of one of those to save my life). he seemed pretty down to earth, not caught up in the bs, which i would expect being the son of frank. i saw that zappa does zappa tour last year, he's really playing better than i've ever heard him.. overall a very cool show.
