Hey i got that 70's les paul clone and im thinking of putting on a lockneck and les paul humbuckers for pickups.. is this a good idea?

What kind of clone? What's a "lock neck"?

If you have a set of gibson pups laying around, sure, why not? Easy enough to pull them later.
Sorry, I don't know what you mean when you say lockneck?

sorry a lock neck is a locking bridge so you dont have to tune often and i use light strings so it comes out often..
its a japenese clone.. "northern" distributed in the 70s in canada.. i believe fugi gen gakki is the company..

are you talking about a TonePros bridge?
Unless you have the parts laying around, I can't see investing that kind of money in a no-name brand guitar.

If you enjoy the guitar, why not? You can always take the upgrade parts with you to another guitar, if you choose get another.
