The HLS II plays, sounds & and looks great, the stock pickups and tremolo bridge are very nice:
Pickups: high output(think SD Distortion) with a tone inbetween vintage and modern IMO....they are staying in this guitar!
Floating Bridge: Stays in tune well right off the bat & with some minor tweeks tuning is stable. The trem block seems flimsy and week to look at, but it has a clever design allowing more dive than strat type trems. I like the bridge, It's staying in the guitar!
Electronics: they work....mini pots are ok, but the toggle switch sucks.
The HLS II arrived in a Crate, very well packed with a well padded gig bag, inside the gig bag are some tools for adjustments and a spare pre-slotted plastic nut.
The Fit and Finish is quite good, given the price tag, it really makes me wonder how this guitar can be sold at such a modest price. The hardware is decent and the graphite nut is a big plus.
A real beauty.
The bad: toggle switch feels mega cheap(works tho) The binding has some overspray in a couple spots(no biggy) The weird locking tuner system, confusing at first but works....not staying on guitar!
Some of the fingerboard inlays are off center, not a big deal.
The HLS II in IMO, delivers a stunning looking guitar for the money, the tone is neutral for playing all types of stiles of music, the neck profile is very comfertable(almost a wizard meets slim C type).
The guitar is easy to play with 10 guage strings, very slinky...love this guitar.
Exellent product that reminds me of my Hamer Studio and my PRS CU22 design wise.
