Hi gang,

First post here. I was comparing velvet revovler contraband vs. libertad in terms of slashs tone and i have to say the jube sounds better to me. Yes, there are a great many similarities but the vintage modern sounds sterile in the new cd.. Of course that could just be production, but even on leno slash seems as though he needed to turn the volume up on his amp a bit.

admittidly i am a slash jube owner. For the record though slashes best tone came from afd - a moded 800.

imi havent heard any new VR, but im willing to bet that anyone leaving a JCM800 modded or not for a JVM needs a good smack upside the head lol

Vintage Modern, NOT a JVM. Single channel amp, with sort of a built in boost. KT88 tubes iirc.

And a JVM does 'modded 800' all day long. Same power section as an 800, different preamp build. EL34's. Yes, I own a JVM.
