Your full review

I recently bought a Xotic RC Booster and I couldn't be happier. The reason I bought this pedal was because I was looking for something similar to a Pete Cornish ST-2 which is a treble and bass boost. I wanted the pedal to work as an EQ boost by itself and when i kicked on one of my lead pedals ('74 Big Muff, '07 Tube Driver or Fulltone '69) it would work as a sustainer, and it works perfectly for both.

This pedal works perfectly if you just want a boost of the cleans if your using modulation (Breathe etc). But it also works even better as a clean boost for solos. If you have a Boogie or some other high-gain amp and are looking for something to clean up your sound and sustain it for days

Doesnt the RC have a decent amount of gain on its own?

Volume/boost gain, yes. Distortion gain, no. From what I understand, RC stands for "Really Clean". The BB and AC have more internal distortion.

I have the AC and like it a lot.
Never tried a clean boost, but I don't understand how, if your amp is on the edge of break up, how a clean boost isn't going to take it into overdrive?
Can the RC really give a volume lift without pushing into distortion? Sounds useful. How does it differ from just turning the amp up a little and riding the volume knob on the guitar?
Thanks
