This recent purchase has me picking up this axe to play daily.
A "low frills" guitar that covers a wide spectrum of sounds, with its 6-way Rotary switch & 490 Humbuckers, it's a rockin' demon!
By changing where you pick on the strings, you can get some sweet "biting squeals" on lead..especially near the neck pickup.
The SG is short for "Solid Guitar" & it truly is strong & light, with a shaped mahogany body.
The neck is long & stout with a hand filling shape.
the lightweight Tuners make this SG balance beautifully when fitted with a decent strap & Schaller Strap-locks.
The faded-finish is very plain/subtle but can take some knocks without being obvious. Mine is Ebony with a white pickguard that just screams "Pick me up & play me!"
I've owned many mid-priced guitars..this is the first Gibson I could afford & enjoy "Guilt-free!"
Someday I'll own a Gibson LesPaul Supreme..I'm in no hurry now that I got this baby! Rock on.
