You need a place to host your images. Once you've put your images there you can then link them directly into your posts. Your internet provider usually supplies a webspace with your account, that's what I use to host my images.

In addition to what Jeff said, to actually put them in a post you have to put image tags around the url of the picture file. Write it as -URL HERE-.

I use PhotoBucket (http://photobucket.com/). Its fast and easy.
