We did a Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator training session today at work. Did one about 10 years ago. Came out the same this time. They are very accurate in terms of telling you what kind of person you are. If you answer the questions truthfully. Also interesting to note that many married couple are complete opposites. Which goes to the old saying "opposites attract"

Its funny "what's old is new again". This used to be the definitive test around 20-25 years ago but fell out of favour with behavioralist because of new studies and various other tests developed to basically do the same thing. I always thought it was pretty accurate up to +/- 7% of the population; the caveats being you have to answer truthfully, so I'm glad to see it in use again.

Yeah, mine always comes out the same. I think I took my first one about 18 years ago and my last one about 5. I guess I'm just an INFP to the day I die.

It appears I am an INTJ for life as well. For good or bad...

They say most musicians are Introverts. So should be lots here.

Well, there's really no good or bad. Or maybe good and bad. Haha. Each of the personality types have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Yeah, but I don't remember the results at all.

I'm an INFP, with a really close second as an INTP.

I took the test twice too, about 6 years apart. Got the same results both times. It was interesting to get the results, as they were pretty accurate both times.

I got INTJ...whatever that is.

Yeah, they seem to be pretty accurate! I am IMTJ as well.
Its very interesting because my wife is the exact opposite of me, personality wise....... but we share common interests.

GuitaristZ,

That means you're a Introversion-Intuitive Perception-Thinking Judgment-Judging type!

I've done the test many times and it either comes up 'INFP' or 'ENFP'. And I do notice that I flip from one to the other. I've been really interested in psychology over the last 10yrs or so, read a lot of Jung. Once you get in touch with your subconcious and acknowledge your 'shadow', you really begin to understand yourself and the rest of humanity. And it's also interesting that music is the product of the collective unconcious so if you can access that, the music just flows.

Now, as for these banannas, , I haven't a clue.

Sometimes, if you answer all the questions strictly relating to work, you will gert different results. They prefer, and I think it's better if you answer all questions based on your personal life. Myself, I am the type that is essentially the same at work as I am at home. I have worked with many people over the years though, that are two different people, the one at work and the one at home.

INFP.

Hmmm. There are a few of us here - and we're one of the rarest types!

BTW, it's one thing to do an online test, BUT, it's another to have a comprehensive (read: exhaustive) test analysed and affirmed via interview by a professional (read: pshrink). Both came out the same for me, in any case.

Mom? What are you doing on these boards?

(My mom is almost done training to be a Jungian analyst so I get to hear about "Jung this" and "shadow and collective unconscious" that non-friggen-stop.)

That's funny nine. Must drive you nuts that she analyzes you all the time too, or didn't you notice. It would be cool to sit and chat with her. (But not at $115/hr)

True, she does, but I'm a quick learner and have a pretty good grasp of what she's talking about so I can turn it around on her. If she was truly smart she wouldn't tell me anything! Heh heh.

LOL I don't think there's a good or bad element in there, but you're the judging type so I'll let you decide! Here's the expanded description.....

"Logical, critical, decisive INNOVATORS of ideas; serious, intent, very independent, concerned with organization; determined, often stubborn. With introverted INTUITION as their strongest mental process, they are at their best when inspiration turns insights into ideas and plans for improving human knowledge and systems. They value:

a restrained, organized outer life; a spontaneous intuitive inner life
conceptual skills; theorizing
planful, independent, academic learning
skepticism, critical analysis, objective principles
originality, independence of mind
intellectual quickness, ingenuity
nonemotional tough-mindedness
freedom from interference in projects
working to a plan and schedule
seeing complexities and hidden meanings
improving things by finding flaws
probing new possibilities; taking the long view
pursuing a vision, foresight, conceptualizing
getting insights to reframe problems

I'm INTP. Yes lots of musician introverts.

Oddly enough Tiger Woods is also INTP. Must be hard for a guy that much in the spotlight to be INTP.
