I just got my Hamm HLS-1. Andy was even nice enough to drive it over to me. I must say that this one is even better than the community one I had last week. Not that it wasn't great too. But some of the little things I pointed out are not an issue with this one. The binding looks much nicer(still not perfect but it looks good), no fret buzz at all and the all the frets are perfect. I'm sure happy I decided to buy this guitar. It was nice to meet Andy too. Well back to playing. :rockon2:

Thanks Rumble_b,
I'm glad you like it. If there are any issues let me know and I will do what ever I can to make it right.
I should have noted that the Community Guitar is a 'factory second'. It has two blotchy blemishes in the finish on the flame top, as well as the other problems that you had mentioned.
I like to put the factory seconds to good use. I just sent one out across the country standard post in a cardboard box, just to see if it survives the trip.
There are no more HLS Model One's in stock, but there will be more arriving in the next 30 days or so. They will be available in the current Atlantic Sunburst, Tabocco Sunburst and Cherry Sunburst. There will also be two new models the FGS and HTS available at that time.
It was really cool meeting Rumble_b, I think that is the first time I've actually met someone in person from this forum.

Hi Auger,
I will be updating the website in the next couple of weeks to include colour options. The HLS will now be available in Atlantic Sunburst (as currently shown on the site), Tabacco Sunburst and Cherry Sunburst.
Here is an early rendering of the new models. This is pretty much what the finished product will look like except the tops of the bodies will be arched and the headstock will be slightly different:
HTS: (The neck will be bound on the finished product)
http://www.hammguitars.com/guitarscanada/HTS.jpg
FGS: (in Cardinal Burst)

The necks are maple, but they have a rosewood veneer on the headstock. The Logo will be inlayed with Mother of Pearl.

Yeah it looks nice but it plays even better. That's what sold me on it. It's just really easy to play, nice and light(which is real nice sometimes) and it sounds good too. I really like the neck pickup but I may change the bridge one.

Yes that is one thing I noticed about it at first impression is the light weight, no problem on the shoulder. I have yet to give it a good look, that comes tomorrow when I finally get back home. Also agree on the feel, fits the body comfortably.

How's the intonation and tuning stability and whatnot, would you say it's gig-worthy and stands a chance at being your number 1 guitar?

That is what I am going to be checking out as soon as I get back to it.

i picked up another guitar yesturday :) . it's a MIJ 68 reissue strat from 1988. i myself call it a 67 because most of the 68 strats out there are the exact same as the 69 strats(black decal w/ "with synchronizing tremolo").
anyway id put up a pic but i can't find one on the net and i dont have my camera with me. it's sunburst with maple neck. doesnt seem like there are any pics on google

The intonation on the guitar is good, tuning stability is also good. Yes it is gig worthy but this model would probably not be my #1 as I am sort of partial to the LP style with set neck. The more I have played the guitar the fonder I have become of it. Great value....
Hey rumble_b hope your enjoying your new as much as I am enjoying noodling around on the community one....

yep that looks like mine :) . im going to keep my pickups and pick guard though heh. someone has like carved their initials in the pick guard(A.J.). it doesnt bother me too much but what kind of moron would do that. im just glad it's barely noticable

I sure am. I took it out last night to my friends place to jam and it was great. My mind is slowly changing on the bridge pickup. Still not the best sound to me but it sure does cut through the mix. It was great for breaking out into some solos last night, it just powered through. And the light weight is great, I has it straped on all night with no problems. My LP I always have to take it off and take a break every now and then.

Glad to hear your enjoying it, the bridge pup does have a bit of sting in it for solos, I found myself changing my mind on the neck pup the other night. I hear ya on the LP and weight difference.

HC is messed up. You can look at 100 posts and find one that is guitar related and only about 5 that make any sense at all.
Sesroh-I'm liking the new strat. I'm more of a fan of rosewood boards but the tinited maple looks real good with that burst.

Hi sesroh,
How do you like your Orange rig? Besides looking awesome, that is. What kind of music are you into? I am looking for another amp, and after seeing yours I may take a trip to the music store and plug in.
Thanks
sesroh

i really really like the orange sound but, right now I'm wanting more. It's kind of a drag to move around my cab to rehearsal as it weighs a ton for a 2X12. The tiny terror is pretty loud and suits my playing. I play mostly indie rock/modern rock. The only thing that lacks is if im in a small room with a bunch of other players I have to have the tiny terror cranked to about 8 or 9 with the gain up a little more than half way to cut through the mix. other than that it's an amazing amp.
now onto MIJ fenders. I'm starting to think that you can't date your MIJ fender by the serial number. both of my MIJ strats are wrong when i date it at the serial number. when looking up the serial on the fender official website it says my 54 was made in between 92-93. unless the P at the beginning of the serial is actually an F(86-87), as it looked a little rubbed off at the start but it's slightly curved like a P. anyways, i looked under the neck of my 54 and it says 89. then my 67 reissue serial starts with an E which tells me that it was made in between 1984-1987 but under the neck it says 88. anyway, all of the dating sites seem to be off a year or two

all my FJs from the 80s except one JV strat have the pencil date on the neck butt...makes dating em precise. The JVs have a system that depends on how many digits follow the "JV" on the neckplate...so the ones without the pencil date can be ballparked. Anyways...I`m gettin` better at knowing which to purchase by the letters and serials over here.
