Hey everyone, I'm looking for some bits and pieces for custom built effect pedals... electronic equipt. like resistors, transistors, capacitors, etc.

now here's the problem, the only place that use to sell the stuff i needed was radio shack, but they've closed all their Canadian stores to "focus expansion in the USA". Does anyone know where I can find those things in the Vancouver, BC area??

thanks for your help

This is not in the Vancouver area but I've heard www.tubesandmore.com is great to deal with, reasonably priced and ships quickly, with delivery right to your door.

There is an electronics store in Ottawa which I use, Active Electronics. They carry a wide range of resistors, transistirs, caps etc. Looks like there is also one in Vancouver:

I have also used Digikey before when ordering all the components for a particuler project:

Someone already mentioned Digi-Key Canada (http://www.digikey.ca/). I prefer Electro-Sonic (http://www.e-sonic.com/) and use DigiKey as a fall back. Electro-Sonic has a store front in North Toronto you can visit which is nice if you're in the area. Between those two you can get just about any generic electronic part and they ship from within Canada so you don't have to worry about duty and stuff.

For stuff that's a little more specific to guitars and music try Small Bear (http://www.smallbearelec.com/).

If you need something "right now" and don't want to order it online you can go to SMI Electronics in Langley. It's on 64th just east of 200 Street. They have pretty much everything.
