What is a "Digital Short'?

I usually try to catch a bit of SNL every week if I'm not gigging. Usually just to see the first tune by the featured musical guest. Avril sure looks good, but her music really stinks and her band looks like they are there for no other reason than the paycheque.

But, I digress....

Every week they have a "Digital Short" segment. I know some of their skits are filmed and not live, but I don't understand the meaning/reason behind the format of "Digital Short".

Please enlighten.

avril's band looked like they were bored to tears last night. I thought playing was supposed to be fun.

I think it's just what they call them. Originally, they looked like they were shot by the actors on DV cameras in their spare time, but now they look like they're shot with the nice high-def cameras by the crew. And they're short films, obviously.

Either way, they're usually the funniest segment on the show. Last night's was funny in a demented way, but not nearly as good as the previous ones.

I was rather disappointed to see that one of those guitarists in Avril's band was playing the same SG that I own. Oh, the shame.

I'm perplexed as to why people think that Avril Lavigne is amazing?
Anyway they are having a vote for most popular digital short coming up on SNL in the next couple of weeks............my vote goes to
"D--- in a box"........I thought Timberlake was hilarious in that one.
The one last night was kind of strange but it was worth a few laughs.
