need some help from you effect experts.

Alright well I bought a proco rat yesterday and I dont have my amp at my house right now so im plugging into my stereo system. When I put the pedal through the chain the bypass works but when i engage the pedal theres no sound at all even though the light does turn on. Ill have to wait 4 days before I can try it out on my amp but can someone tell me right now if there is something wrong with the pedal or is that I just cant distort the signal on my stereo system. Thanks.

Are the in and out switched?

well the bypass works fine... But maybe bypass works both ways.. so maybe in fact i did switch em arond. What I did was I plugged IN into the amp and OUT into the guitar

Yea, that's the wrong way round. Guitar -> In -> Out -> Amp. In bypass it's just a wire so it doesn't matter, but engaged it makes a difference.
