Pickup question

Does anyone know of any information that give generalizations on the tones and characteristics of all the different types and makes of pickups?

What I'm looking for is stuff like "xxx brand, yyy model is good for mellow bluesy sound. zzz brand is good for a bright, rock sound" etcetera.

Most makers of pick ups have good descriptions and usually sound clips on their sites. Seymour Duncan, Bare Knuckle, Lollar, DiMarzio etc. Lots to check out.

Thanks Tarl. For some reason I never thought of them having sound clips on their sites. I'd still like some less "biased" opinions as well.
