View Full Version : Static electricity problem
Here's an interesting one. I've noticed that while playing my main SG, if the tone/volume pot rear cover slides against my jeans or shirt I hear some crackling. What's the best way to eliminate or ground this problem? I have some of that grounding foil stuff that I could use but don't know what I should apply it to or if it should be linked to the pots via a strip of it so that it grounds.
Thanks in advance.

Try rubbing it with a bounce sheet...or tape a piece of it to the inside of the cover. Seriously. I've known a few guys who's strat pickguards would discharge static electricity when they touched or rubbed them. A bounce sheet under the pickguard cured it.

That's a pretty good idea, actually. And as a bonus, my guitar will smell great.
