Here's a guitar I've owned for a long time...it's a 1976 Stratocaster hardtail.
It's had some minor changes such as a '73 pickup in the neck and the origional black guard has been replaced with a '71 guard I had. It's got a new volume pot too. Other than that, it's all origional. Interestingly, it's a lightweight which is uncommon for that time period.http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l70/nonreverb/newpics082.jpg

I wonder if they used a different formulation of paint for Olympic White in the 70's? It seems like they tended to turn banana yellow more often than years earlier and after.

Very nice guitar. It's aged well.

Actually, after some research, I discovered that this colour is, in fact, cream.
Your observation is correct. many of the Strats and Tele's from this era in this colour seem to go a deep banana colour. It's a really cool colour and it's checked nicely as well....My girlfriend can't stand it...she thinks it looks ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess!

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I think they look pretty cool when they turn yellow like that as well.
