I'm stuck on which amp want to get so I thought I'd ask for your help.
The two amps I'm looking for are the Genz Benz Black Pearl 30 112 combo or the new Vox handwired AC15. What I'm looking for is something a little lighter then my traynor mark II to bring to smaller gigs and a something that I can use at home with out waking up the neighbor hood..lol
I play Jazz/blues, rock, folk. and really like the on the edge of breakup sound where i can use a boost to push it in to OD. The main thing is I don't want anything thin sounding.
hope you can help

The Black Pearl seems to be a bit more flexible than the AC15. Too bad you cant footswitch the different channels.
The AC15 handwired has the EF86 channel, which I find really appealing. However, current production EF86s are prone to rattle in combo amps, something I find annoying at lower volumes.
What would I do for jazz/blues, rock, and folk? Secure a few NOS EF86s (from a good eBay seller) and go for the AC15. If you are already gigging, I bet you have a few pedals for the tones you cannot get from the amp itself.

My money is on the AC-15 as well. My experience with Class A amps is that, at high volumes, they are not thumping rock machines. Class A always seems to lose the bottom end when you really crank them up. My experience is limited to the Lonestar Special in this regard so take it with a grain salt.

My Dr Z Stangray head and 2X12 Cab with Celestion Blues thumps at higher volumes with loads of bass to spare. I owned the lonestar special and although it was a nice sounding amp does not come even close to the stangray.

a genz vs a vox AC?
the vox.
Genz will probably be more versatile. I personally hate the tones from the clips I've heard.
The Vox will indeed be somewhat light on the bottom end, that's the nature of the AC15/30. Tons of sweet sweet mids and upper mids, jangle aplenty and some moderate roar when cranked. The 15's gonna be a one (or maybe 1.5) trick pony but it's an amazing trick.
<--- waiting on an AC30 Handwired to land :smile::smile::banana:
Just played the ac15 HW yesterday, its really is a fine sounding amp,
killer cleans, that roll into break-up perfectly, At this point I like it more than any boutique offering, mainly because of the warm midrange, on non extended
bandwidth, and its reasonably priced.
