It's time again for one of the best deals in musical entertainment. (http://www.kingstonblues.com/welcome.html) For a measly $10 you get access to 4 days of blues performances from a variety of great acts. It also happens to be the only gig I play each year, so if you happen to swing by Confederation Park (across from City Hall) for the free shows on Friday come on up and say 'hi' to the bassist for Killing Floor - we're on at 6:00 sharp.
Cheers,
Eric
I,m gonna be there and maybe my brother (Dave ) too. We,ll try to stop by and see you play with Jack and the guys. I'm on vacation, blues festival and ZZ Top in TO on Sunday....gonna be a good weekend.

ZZ Top? I'm jealous!
It'll be nice to meet you and your brother. Hopefully I can live up to the standard set by your brother when he was playing with Jack and Maurice!
Very nice to meet you in person Baconator. You and the boys sounded great and the crowd really got into it.
For anyone that is going this weekend make sure you check out Jimmy Bowskill at the Tir Nan Og pub. This guy is young (someone told me 17) and leads a power blues trio that is just amazing. He uses a VOS Les Paul and a P 90 equiped LP Melody Maker into a JCM 800, I believe. The only pedals I saw were a tuner, wah and I think an octive pedal. This goes into a old Marshall 4x10 cab that he has a huge piece of plexiglass over the speakers so he can crank it. He also has taken the tone knobs, and maybe the pots (hard to see), off his guitars....I'm not sure if this is a mod or what. This trio has tone to die for.....think of early Zeppelin, Canned Heat and Hendrix......hit you in the chest and knock you down tone! Check the kid out if you can......

Nice meeting you too - thanks so much for stopping by, Tarl! It was fun if not a little nervewracking. Every year I tell myself that I need to get out and gig more than once a year, but it never seems to happen.
There were some incredible shows for those that made it out. After my show I settled in on the patio of Monty's and had the extreme pleasure of hearing Steve Patiko (sp?) - perhaps the greatest guitarist I've ever heard here in town. His playing was somewhere in the middle ground between pedal steel and banjo with techniques from both styles. Absolutely mind-blowing even if it wasn't blues.
Hopefully I'll be back at the same time and same place next year if not sooner.
