I know you test drove a lot of gear before you bought your rig.
Did you side by side the Little Mark II to the F1?
I played an F1 this morning and was completely blown away! It looks like the only difference between the 2 is analog power on the LMII and digital on the F1, and about $200 or so. They must be similar, no?

I love the title of this thread James. Too funny!

I didn't A/B the two heads at the time I started test driving and here are the reasons why.
First, my preliminary research led me to this thread at TalkBass;
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371269&highlight=markbass
I was looking for a warmer tone and the general consensus is that the LMII has the tendency to be warmer as compared to the F1. Second, when I mentioned the type of music I generally play, Dave Freeman plugged me into the LMII right off the bat, so the F1 was no longer a consideration. I didn't mind saving the $200 as well.

I'm not surpised. They're amazing amps. I thought you were also interested in the Shuttle 6 at one time.

Yep, very similar with regards to weight and power, and as you progressively read through the TB thread, you'll see that some of the guys prefer the LMII when played through certain cabs, while others prefer the F1 through certain cabs. In the end, it boils down to personal tonal preference as it usually does.
Where did you try the F1? Are you ready to buy something now, or are you just starting to look into it?

Good read.

I prefer a little warmer as well, but they did not have an LMII.

I have been interested in the Shuttle 6.0 since I first heard about them over 6 months ago. Had my amp sold when I had it for sale I would have bought one without ever playing them. I got a chance to finally see and play one in person yesterday. I was quite disappointed. Very hi-fi sounding and bright, but I just could not get any low end thump-nothing! Dimed the bass and low mid and still no thump. Seemed to have a lot of headroom though, and may have been better into a bigger cab. Volume knob fell off in my hand as well.

I tried the F1 at London Guitar Shop. I used the same Yamaha bass as at the other shop, but a different cab obviously.
I'm not ready to buy anything right now, especially since losing my job this week. :mad:

I couldn't find a Shuttle to try although I would have liked to. What you experienced is pretty consistant with what others have said when compared to the MarkBass amps.

I was thinking that if the F1 you tried was owned by someone you knew in London, I could come in with my LMII so that you could A/B them using your basses and cabs. BUT........maybe it's time for that meet/greet/bass playing session anyway. Let's set something up so you can give my LMII a serious workout......especially if you have those beautiful cabs you're building ready to go.

Not happy to hear about you losing your job. I hope things work out for you quickly.

I'm hoping the other cab will be done in 2 weeks. As soon as it's done, I'd like to get together.
