Why do only solid state seem to have headphone jacks?

because you havent looked hard enough. traynor YCV80 (and im sure other YCV models) have headphone outs.

I'm guessing it's because most tube amps play louder and are probably more oriented for gigs and recordings. But the number of tube amps with headphone jacks, even on small 5 watts models is pretty low.

I guess it's because tube amps are generally played loud and used as gigging amps while solid states are more tailored towards practicing at home.

Because including a power soak in a tube amp is an expensive add on. You want to tap the signal after the power amp to get the right sound and you can't run a tube-based power amp without a load attached. You'll find them on high end tube amps. The Koch Twintone I have for sale in the emporium has a power soak, a headphone output and a DI output (http://www.guitarscanada.com/Board/showthread.php?t=15136).
