Funny how the world, and/or human mind works. I only ever first saw a Mira maybe a month ago, and thought they were gross and hideous and BLECHHH.
But was curious, given they are a PRS, so jumped online and did a little reading. Then some reviews and forum threads here and there, and hmmm geez these sound like an awesome axe that might fit a niche we don't have here at home.
Also, the ones I thought were so awful were all solid colours. The see thru's, particularly cherry and mahogany (not so much the orange) don't look half bad, I started thinking.
Then I played one, at Axe Calgary, about 2 weeks ago. OK now my original disgust has turned into a real case of GAS. lofu The wide/thin neck shape is just how I like em, and mainly how my kids prefer em too.
So, today I went shopping. L&M had 2 but both standard neck. The solid colour (sandstone?) was a better sounding guitar, and lighter, but no go. Mothers had 2 but didn't bond with one. Axe here in Edmonton had 2, now they have 1 (lol).
Vintage mahogany, under 7lbs. We have company at home this week, so haven't cranked up yet, but anyways many usable sounds in all positions - I have never ever had a guitar with this much usable taper in the volume and tone controls - absolutely incredible. Split coil sounds are spanky and jangly, the humbuckers are well balanced and relatively low powered. Finish, frets, etc. is all 100% near as I can tell after about 9 close inspections (lol). CAN NOT WAIT to crank something up and listen to it sing sdsre.
