I am thinking of adding a Mini HB to one of my tele's to make it a 3 pup tele. I am undecided about where to put the mini. Put it in the neck move original neck to middle or put it in the middle. Any opinions?

I once played one that had a minihum in the neck. I thought it sounded awesome. I'm not sure about putting the original neck pickup in the middle though...I did once see a tele with a minihum in the neck, middle and the regular pickup in the bridge. Looked pretty cool.

If I put the mini in the neck I'd wire it so Pos 1 = Bridge, Pos 2 = Middle and Bridge, Pos 3 would be Neck and Bridge, Pos 4 = Neck and Mid, Pos 5 = Neck.
With mini in the middle it would be like a Strat. Two mini's sound interesting..

My Koll tele has a mini-hum in the neck and a strat pick-up in the middle. There is a 5 way switch so that you can get some credible stratty out-of phase tones in teh 2nd and 4th positons. I find it a really flexible set-up.

Yea I'm liking the look of the hum in the neck. Will post a pic when it is done.
It's a walnut body no pickguard, pickups use mount rings for mini and present neck pup.

This is the before shot

The pickup combos sound great. 1/3/5 are like using a tele and 2/4 add a bit of strat sounds.

Looks great. I'm not a fan of humbuckers on Tele's but in the neck position and with the two singles I'm sure you'll get a good variety of useable tones.

Nice job!

I have a tele with a neck H...awesome. I love the neck H on a tele. I think the position that you want it in depends upon the style of music you play most often. Of course the mini ones are great for keeping it the same look as a single.
