Hello,
I've recently redone my custom pickguard website. I am just about ready to buy some advertising. But I'd like some feedback from people who know a thing or two about guitars. So, I ask you, how do you think my website can improve?
Here it is:
www.pickguardcorner.com
Anyone who gives some really good advice can get an extra deal on pickguards, right now we are having a 50% off sale to get things going and put together some advertising money.
Thanks all!

Some pretty crazy, colourful stuff! It would be neat to see some more photographic and slick, more subtle textural stuff alongside the drawn/painted themes.
The inks you use in your prints - how durable are they - how water-fast and UFV resistant, for example? That would be my main consideration, if I were into buying your stuff.
Anyhow, to address your question, the first thing that glares when I click on your site is the illegibility of the 'flag' itself (the big logo for your site's name).... a little less quirkiness there would be helpful; let the designs do the funky work.
Good luck with your business!

We use an Epson stylus photo 1400 printer, the inks are rated to last 98 years. It's a great printer.
The way we make our guards is by attaching the print to the back of clear acrylic. They're very durable. Everyone has been very happy with them.
You aren't the first person to say that about the logo. We've got a bunch of improvments happening soon though.
Thanks for your compliments!

I'm familiar with many Epson printers... are you printing onto archival, acid-free papers?
It's cool that the prints are protected by the acrylic, anyway.
The other thing that I would recommend to help potential customers visualize these designs is to have mockups - you know, not just a picture of a funky pickguard, but a quick mockup of that same pickguard on a black or natural Tele, that sort of thing. I would think that would help a bit.

Yes we use good quality epson papers.
You're right about having pictures of actual pickguards on guitars, we will be putting some up soon. Unfortunately we do not have the knowledge yet to make a viewer where you can see each pickguard on a guitar, that would be nice though.

It could probably be done as a Flash thing... even the simple silhouettes of typical shapes like Strat, Tele, SG, etc. would be better than nothing.

I agree, but I'm not good with computers really, I built the site using a site editor that does everything for me, that's why the ordering process is so weird

Then try and find a guitarist who does Flash and work out a deal... they're certainly out there. The idea is to make your product as appealing as possible... and to make it as easy as possible for customers to pull the trigger and buy one of your custom guards.

That is a good idea, but I think that work is worth more than a pickguard or two. Eventually I'll pay someone to do something really nice.

Absolutely. But you have to start somewhere, right? Besides, even very professional sites change things up every now and then so as not to appear stale.
Anyway, best of luck!
