I really hate extra fees. What would be the best way to get an amp shipped from the States to avoid customs and taxes?
USPS, mark as a "gift", maybe toss in a fake birthday card for good measure?
Thanks!

You will have to pay taxes on the declared value of the item. Send it USPS if possible to avoid brokerage fees. I had my amp sent by UPS because it was over the USPS's weight limit. I had the sender fill out the forms so that a local broker would handle customs for me. The quote I got from them was 30% less than what UPS charges...and yet UPS gave me a bill for the full amount. They either ignored my request or pocketed the difference.

If you get it shipped with USPS you wont have to pay any brokerage fees, just tax. However, USPS ground will only insure for around $650, so if the amp is worth considerably more than that you may not want to go that route. If you get it shipped USPS Air, it will cost about double I had an amp shipped to me in calgary from the US for around $120) and they insure for the full amount. Again you are not paying brokerage fees. This method is equal to shipping with UPS ground and paying the brokerage fees and air shipment is faster.
Hope that helps.

Buy from Canada:smilie_flagge17:
BTW USPS only insures against loss,,,,not damage. Same with Canada Post. UPS will only cover damage if you pay them to pack it.
