I'm rethinking a thread from last year. I like the one volume and two tone arrangement on the stratocaster. But when I thought about, the two tones on mine were never engaged at the same time - one for the bridge, one for the neck and the middle left raw. I was wondering what it would be like for a two humbucker axe to be wired one volume and a tone for each. How would this affect the middle toggle selection of both pups. I like to preset the the bridge around 6-7 and the neck from 0-3. One volume to play with is more my style. I have a Hamer with 2V/1T.
Thanks,....

Though some may find it a secret weapon rather than a hindrance, the volume and tone controls on a dual-control-per-pickup instrument interact quite a bit. really, the only way to get past that interaction is to install some form of active mixer. I hasten to add that this is not a booster of any kind, rather simply a way to electronically isolate the two sets of controls so that whatever you set the one to is not affected by the other. Indeed, a very simple JFET buffer for each vol/tone combo, with the buffer outputs passively mixed, may be just the ticket.
