After playing an Epiphone 335 Dot for years and years, I finally saved enough $$ for the real deal.. Went to L&M and tried out almost everything, then in the back room I saw this; A Gibson Custom Shop ES-335 Dot with some extra little touches. Vintage faded beige/yellow binding, custom pick guard (bit larger than usual), STUNNING light-grain rosewood fingerboard, vintage style tuners... and it sounds absolutely mind-blowing unplugged.. This quality and tone is what a Gibson is all about. Here she is:

Dying to ask how much it cost but decorum is standing in the way...
A fine guitar!

I have a $350 Epiphone and I have played them side by side through the same amp - BIG difference. They both have the 'honk' that the body-style facilitates, but the overall sound and feel of the Gibson is FAR superior... as it should be. Mind you, I played a few other 335's in the store that felt almost identical to my Epiphone.. but this one really stood out as being something special. devnulljp - it was $2500. Worth every cent and will hold its value.

Haha, I still love my Epi, but man, I'm pretty darned jealous of Weezy and Cocotone's 335s! I guess I'd better start saving my pennies

Congratulations!

I'm sure you'll treasure it for years to come. I've had mine for a year and I'm still in awe every time I play it. Amazing sound, playability, feel, responsiveness, it has everything. Here's mine:

Funny, I hear that argument comparing Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls all the time but rarely hear the same argument about the 335s.

One word--cool.

Okay, more words.
I'd love to have one--it's on my long list of guitars I'd like to have. (Although I'd probably be more likely to get an Epi, unless I came into some real money.)

Enjoy...

Nice guitar!

I have a knock off 335 that sounds amazing since I gutted the electronics and pickups. One thing I've never understood, since 335 are essentially ply wood, why are Gibsons so much more than Epi or others. The whole "tone wood" argument doesn't reply, so aside from better stock electronics, what gives?

TG

(BTW, I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I've always wondered and have therefore been hesitant to shell out the $ for a Gibson).

Just woooww!! Love the 335! Probably my favorite guitar off all time! It,s on my long list, probably my retirement guitar! :D

Love your pickgard, had a little mojo on it! Probably a good player and a keeper! ;)

Cogratulations...enjoy your 335 while most of the rest of us are dreaming about having one.

I have been an admirer of 335's since I was a teenager (shotly after the ice age) and I saw 335's being made at the Gibson factory in Memphis...the tour left me virtually in a state of coma for several hours after...LOL

My old Greco 335 copy will have to do for now (and now could be a long, long time!!)

Try to put it down long enough to get something to eat..... and some sleep.

Those are some beauty pics of 335's! ...I told my wife she has to sleep on the couch tonight.

So this one is officialy a 59' reissue w/ 57' humbuckers - ebony colour

...I really can't say enough about how beautiful the fingerboard is (see pic - my camera sucks and I suck at using it, but you get the idea).... and the TONE.... mannn.
