Hey all!
Don't know if I've picked the correct forum for this question but it's concerning an electric guitar so...

Anyone know if L&M has an exchange policy? (30 day or something, don't see anything on their website)
I bought a guitar and after the (brief) honeymoon period, I'm wishing I hadn't.

Don't want my money back or anything, just a different guitar.

Any info appreciated! :food-smiley-004:

30 day money back, the gear must be returned in as-new condition. (http://www.long-mcquade.com/index.php?site=1&tmp=44)

By original packing, they usually mean all of the hang tags, etc.

In spite of that, some things are not returnable unless defective. Things that come into contact with body fluids, (microphones, reeds/mouthpieces for brass or woodwinds, etc.), are usually excluded. Sometimes special order items are excluded as well. They'll tell you at the time of purchase.

Worst case they'll usually convert it into a monthly rental and give you back the depreciated amount of the guitar minus the rental fee. You might be out 15-20% but it's better than nothing.

I changed 3 different amps in the span of 6 months there. Up to 30 days I'm pretty sure is a full refund. After 30 days its a certain small percentage. Like a rental fee. You can always return basically.

The Stratford L&M has been pretty reasonable in this regard. They seem to have it figured out that pissed off customers don't return, and they talk. You never know which customer will create the "ka-ching".

Peace, Mooh.

L&M is one of the best businesses of any type, I have dealt with especially on returns. As far as returns maybe only surpassed by Lowes as I was able to return a portable air conditioner for a full refund that I had for almost 50 days. I was told I had up to 90 days.

I bought an expensive PRS there a month ago, didn't get the tone I wanted so I returned it on the 32nd day.... no problem. Full refund, although now I've ordered another PRS that should arrive in a month or so... L&M RULES.

Gibson Studio-apparently I'm a Strat guy. I'll see what they have along the lines of an American Standard or so.

For the odd time I get the humbucker urge my SZ520QM will fit the bill. I A/B'd the Ibanez and the Gibson and my ears prefer the sound coming from the SZ.

What Gibson Studio is it? I have one I bought from L&M Calgary in December of 2005...
Here's a good shot of it with some other Les Paul style rigs:

Their rental program is fantastic...you rent something on a monthly basis...then if you decide that you want to keep it a percentage of the monthly rent goes toward the purchase of it. That's how I learned of Ibanez superior bass making abilities. I rented one for recording and ended up buying it after about 2 or 3 months. There it is on the left. Holds its own with many 'way more expensive' basses...including my USA G&L JB-2 which listed for $1600 when I got it about 2 years ago.

This is only true if you are buying an item outright. If you are financing an item then restocking fees apply after 3 days.

In the first year 60% of what you put into rent on the item (must be that item...no substitutions) can be put toward purchase. after year one but before year 2 that drops to 50%.

Well, if anyone's wondering, they were great to deal with.
Looked the Studio over pretty good, found no flaws and said "no problem".

I checked out the Strat selection, they had everything I'd been hoping to try, but only one or two of each so the color selection was poor.
I liked both the American Standard and American Deluxe but the simplicity of the Standard appealed to me more than the S-1 switching. However I liked the Deluxe neck contour at the heel for better upper fret access-why not do this on all strats-one less thing to make the Deluxe Deluxe perhaps?

In the end I had the one Standard they had on the counter but it was black w/rosewood , not my favorite but I figured what the heck. Somehow I came up with the resistance to have to take a guitar home today at the last second and asked if they could order me an Olympic white/rosewood instead.
Should be here in 2-3 weeks.

They credited the $$ difference back on my card and now 's just the wait! It'll be something like this, but I think there's a tortoise pickguard in it's future.

L&M have an excellent return policy. they'll pretty much do whatever you're willing to bitch long enough to get, frankly. the only real downside is that now they're going to sell your les paul studio as a new guitar. while it may be in excellent condition (and often the returns they take in are NOT), it's not new. buyer beware (this is something that doens't bother me at all with guitars, but with electronics? i want new in the box every time).
