I've just joined, so hello everyone.

My interest here is in learning luthiery, particularly acoustic.

I can't call myself a newbie at this because I haven't progressed even that far. I'm decidedly a wannabe, you know something to do when I retire. (I teach computer programming at Sheridan College in Oakville, ON, but there's an artist in my pocket protector bursting to get out.)

I'm in the midst of 'Number 1', a Martin dreadnought kit. So far the box is built and my current stage is cutting the binding channels. This is proving to be a challenge. I've tried 2 different approaches, both of which failed (on the back), but I haven't given up. Even as the project inches precariously toward the fireplace, I have a new plan that is GUARANTEED to work!

Anyway, my plan is to lurk here for a while and see how things roll.

Well I cant help you with anything luthierie related but welcome to the forum.

Sheridan college, that takes me back. I remember when we first came to Canada, taking a bunch of courses at Sheridan College in Bramalea.

Welcome to the forum.

It would be a real shame if all your hard work and all that beautiful tonewood had to end up in a firepalce !!

Hopefully the luthiers will be able to help you. Will you be posting your project in the "Luthiers" section of the forum...with pics (hint, hint)

Enjoy this great forum.

Cheers

Dave
