I've just joined, so hello everyone.
My interest here is in learning luthiery, particularly acoustic.
I can't call myself a newbie at this because I haven't progressed even that far. I'm decidedly a wannabe, you know something to do when I retire. (I teach computer programming at Sheridan College in Oakville, ON, but there's an artist in my pocket protector bursting to get out.)
I'm in the midst of 'Number 1', a Martin dreadnought kit. So far the box is built and my current stage is cutting the binding channels. This is proving to be a challenge. I've tried 2 different approaches, both of which failed (on the back), but I haven't given up. Even as the project inches precariously toward the fireplace, I have a new plan that is GUARANTEED to work!
Anyway, my plan is to lurk here for a while and see how things roll.
Ted
