the only game that might be able to compete with WoW :O
Was anyone else addicted to D2 back in the day?

Hehe, I knew it was coming. There was hints posted all over the splash page at Blizzard.com.
I wasn't addicted to DII but WoW held my fancy for awhile... but it overstayed its welcome and got kicked out.
I'm more curious as to when it is going to come out, and how are they going to improve the game. It would be much like Warcraft I and II and then the HUGE leap into the 3rd dimension with the third game.

Back in the day?!?! I still have at least 5 or 6 characters registered on Battle.net! I still occasionally play the original too.
When I saw the official announcement and the screenshots, I nearly jazzed my pants. I can't wait for this!!!

Haha, I checked out the screenshots and the 20-minute gameplay video, and I have to say it looks pretty sweet. Seems to be a logical follow-up to the last one in terms of design, but enough improvements to warrant a whole new game.
I`m guessing Blizzard will try to get it ready to ship for the Holiday season; that seems to make the most sense. Also, I don`t want to have to wait any longer than that! lofu

Not likely :(
Unless you mean holiday season 2009:smile:
Blizzard took 5 years to release WoW after they announced it
Blizzard took hasn't released Starcraft 2 yet, and it was announced two years ago, and they said it will be a long time still :(
Blizzard too 3 years to make Diablo II
Everyone on the forums are estimating that knowing Blizzard, late 2009 the earliest, but most likely 2010 :(

Yeah, that music is pretty good. Seems to pick up pretty seamlessly from DII. I like the continuity.

I sure hope not. I know how late they've been in the past, but watching the gameplay video, it sure seems like most of the coding has already been done, even if it was just for a scripted little part. I'm sure the engine is ready to go, it's just a matter of debugging. It'll really chap my ass if it's not going to be for a couple years.
Man, now I wish I hadn't heard of the announcement.

I'll chap your ass for free:wink:
And yeah, I don't think Blizzard will let us down. I don't think they have ever released a game anything short of awesome.
I was an addict and will certainly get D3 when it comes out.

My concern would be if it made use of DX10. That would mean I would HAVE to HAVE that Edsil ... Windows VISTA :sport-smiley-002:

I don't think anyone will be using XP in 2-3 years:frown:

 People with VISTA are hardly using VISTA now! I know many people that have spent the money to roll back to XP from VISTA! Or have VISTA but have a second partition and have XP there and use that exclusively. The only thing I would want from VISTA is DX10 for the shader. It's needed to run the fractal renderer Flam4 through the GPU. I just don't want it that bad yet :D
However, I agree that that it is only a matter of time until XP use has diminished to that degree (and I do know people that still are using windows 3.1). Though until VISTA is fixed to the point it stops doing the fun VISTA things it does, XP is pretty safe. At least XP doesn't declare itself a virus and refuse to run itself, or decide your harddrive is overfull and reformat for you(this one happened to a friend of mine three times in a row, he is a devout user of XP again), or decide you don't really need the taskbar and so deletes that, or tell you that you don't want to read that text file three times in a row and then tell you its been secured to where you will never find it...
>.< most of those and more fun VISTA moments my friends went through yesterday >.<

I hear yah, I'm still on xp too
and LOL some of that Vista stuff is funny (decides you don't really need the taskbar so deletes it :P)
For a while they were talking about bringing DX10 to XP (just rumors)...Don't think anything came of that :frown:

I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
On another note, I bought an HP desktop in January, which came with Vista. I immediately tried to reformat and install XP Pro Corp on it, and the strangest thing happened. It wouldn't let me!! Everytime it booted into the system disk, it would crash over and over again. And this is a disk that I know works 100% and have used it since.
Anywho, I ended up stuck with Vista like it or not, and have been getting used to it. For day to day stuff, it's not a major difference, but one thing that I noticed really is different and more awkward is the network connections manager. Trying to get it to connect to the internet through a LAN that had other XP machines on it was a nightmare (I'm no MCSE or A+, but I do know my way around machines).
Oh, it also crashed repeatedly when I tried to install my (admittedly ancient) Soundblaster Live Platinum card. I used this as my main interface for recording on my old desktop and haven't upgraded since. Now I can't use it and have my eyes peeled for an M-Audio 410.
