so the JSX, its good. i want great. I dont see why I shouldnt have great: you know how we all fantasize about buying that one amp that really does make it all worth it, and you know in your heart of hearts that you wont really need another one - i think its getting to be that time.
I'm tired of lusting after gear, plugging into my rig and finding that my tone isnt as good as it was 3 days ago, feeling that if only the sound fitted better I could play that riff I nearly have down.. time to get the real deal!
i introduce to you, Brunetti amplification:
www.brunetti.it
the two contestants: the 059
http://www.brunetti.it/br_products.php?prodID=4&lang=EN
and the XLR-Evo
http://www.brunetti.it/br_products.php?prodID=18&lang=EN
I need an amp that can do my type of cleans, that classic marshall crunch, good punk and metal tones, good rock tones, and still drop jaws. these clips are doin a pretty good job for me!
thought i'd shows you guys these beasts. my amp shortlist is:
mesa Roadster
VHT Pittbull UL
VHT Sig:X
Brunetti XLR-evo, 059
maaybe a Diezel VH4?
maybe the H&K Triamp?
I'm hoping to keep things under $3K when all's said and done (taxes, customs, shipping) so it'll be freakin' tough haha.

I listened to the clips..........and I'm not at all impressed. Neither of those Brunetti amps compare to the rest in your short list IMO. Maybe they sound different in person??? Have you tried one?

Can't say that I have.
handmade in Italy makes it a little bit difficult. I do know 2 guys who own different models though, and plan on shooting the company an email.
btw, check your PM's - i need to hear that VHT.

Did see one of the combo amps in town a few months back in some shop. Will try to remeber and will check to see if they have any of your heads.
Did like the amps but don't know if its worth the money, they are around $3000 CDN eh?
My ultimate GAS would be the VHT line....

To answer your question Budda, no UL, they're both Pittbull Classics.....now called the CLX. Peavey made VHT change the name because they trade-marked the use of the word Classic when applied to amps. The Classics were special order amps and I was told on the VHTusers site that Steve Fryette himself assembled and tested these amps. For this reason, I assuming, the CLX costs $3400/head, $3800/combo. These amps have the same preamp as the UL but have an el34 power section (100w)whereas the UL has kt-88 (120w). I picked up both of these amps off ebay for just over $1000 each. Actually I managed to get both Classics and both cabs for less than you can buy a CLX/UL new. People sell these Classics cheap because they don't really know what they are or the story behind it. They do sound different than the UL's and Deliverance but still maintain that signature VHT sound. I'd say the biggest difference would be the UL seems to have more of a thunderous/tight low end which is good for the scooped metal tones and the Classic has more of a mid range snarl as well as the tight low end. Both these amps are available with the graphic EQ (strogly recomended) which offers a far more dramatic sweep of the tonal spectrum. This was my biggest problem with my Mesa Road King. You could fully rotate the tone knobs and only hear the slightest of change and I could never dial out the sloppy low end. On a VHT you can cut the bass completely or max it out and it still stays tighter than a Mesa. One thing you will have to be prepared for is that VHTs have such clarity and definition that your mistakes become more obvious and pronounced. It actually helps me see where my playing could be improved. I could go on all day about all the other features but it's probably best you try it for youself. Give me a bit of advanced warning when you're in the area and I'll kick the wife and kids out for the day.
BTW I highly recomend keeping your eye on the ebay/VHTusers site for the deals. There's lots of used Sig-Xs on the market right now for quite a bit less than new.
Let me know,
J

I really like the VHT's, and have heard many good things about them - according to one of the guys on another forum who owns an XL-Evo and distributes Brunetti's, the 059 is akin to the VHT Pittbull UL in how it sounds, but different.
I'm not quite after that super-tight low end, I like a little bit of thump to it hehe.
and the 059 is around $2800. If i can find one used, i will be happy lol.
J, what you doin saturday (sent you a PM about it)
