Peavey 5150 or a 6505. They're basically the same amp except the 6505 is just the renamed 5150. As far as guitars go, just go with one that feels good in your hands and has humbuckers.
Edit: What's your budget? If it's lower than 500 then try an amp modeler and one of those old amps that don't colour the sound (they don't cost much over $100). Your music preference shows stuff like old rock to heavy metal to whatever LoG is. If you can get a POD XT with a metal shop pack or used GT-8, would go over well.

If you want Lamb of God go with a Mesa MarkIV, a very versatile amp!
Like what SinCron asked, what's your budget?

you wont get their tone with most setups, way too much stuff in there.
i've heard a peavey JSX sound amazingly close. a 5150 wont get you the LoG tone.
now if you want a good melodic metal tone, that we can help you with.
what's the budget?

Ya I know, the money is short. How about something that could give me a sound form the first master of puppets solo?
I hear everyone saying the line 6's are crap (again i'm new just going by things I have heard)

Obviosuly you are limited by money, browse youtube for the amps and you can hear some samples ie:

When it comes to gear everyone has different tastes, I have had a tonne of different amps from vintage Fender, to marshall, Mesa Boogie, TpHat, etc and I presently own one Tophat and a fender SuperChamp (practice amp) as well as my main gigging amp which is a Mesa Dual rectifier Roadster. Depending on who you talk to they will tell you that certain amps are crap. What it comes down to is how long the person has been playing and how much money they have to spend. I helped a friend get an amp for his son and he got the Line 6. I played through it and found it was a pretty decent amp for what it costs. Alot of your tone is in your fingers, this comes with practice not necessarily gear. I have heard crappy players play good gear and sound like crap and good player play crappy gear and sound good. You have to be realistic with the amount of money you have, If you don't like Line6 go with one of the VOX modelling amps. But for under 200$ it is going to be hard to find something amazing.

A Roland Cube might be another good choice if you can find one. I had one of those as a practice amp for awhile, great little practice amp.

After looking at some vids, I can say that I don't care for the line 6. but the Roland Cube sounds AMAZING :rockon2:

VIDS MEAN SQUAT.
go test out:
line 6 spider III 30W
peavey rage 158
roland cube 30X
Vox AD30VT
whichever one you like the most, find a used model of it.

I would not say vids mean squat, they can give you an idea of what an amp sounds like. You still have to go out and try them but I like to hear samples to get general ideas what certain amps can do. Not a fan of the Peavey but the others are all good small practice amps.

unless the guy recording the video knows how to set up the amp into the computer, and the video just shows the amp but its being recorded via mic/direct in - the video wont count for much.
Tried out the little Roland cube and found it way better than the line 6 or vox.
Better sound than the VOX and 6 plus easier to use than then 6...Under $200

This is the amp that I am going to get.

It says that it has a tuning feature to tune my guitar. Since i am new to guitar i can't tune by ear. Does this tuner work good and is it easy to use? or is it worth getting a separate tuner?

Also, whats the list of things I need to play guitar? Amp, guitar (duh). But are there little things I'm missing.
Also what are some good, learn to play guitar videos. Like guitar for retards or somthin. I don't even know what a tab is but I really want to learn.

Roland Cube 20X should definitely do. As for books with CDs or DVDs, etc., you may want to check Amazon.ca or indigo.ca. I ordered a few from one of them a few years ago (just can't remember which one).
