Devastating crash this past Saturday. Kalitta blew his engine about 3/4 down the track. Shute deployed but was damaged. He hit the wall at the end of the run-off area at close to 300 MPH. There was nothing left.
Another big name in motor racing gone. NHRA needs to look into the real estate at the end of these tracks. There is not enough room for these cars to stop if a problem should occur with the shute or braking systems.
