I know this is the selling area of the Guitarscanada forum.. but I was wondering if anyone can point me the right direction to find a PRS bass?
A good friend of mine (whom I jam with) wants to look into a PRS bass but they a few and far between out here in Ontario Canada..
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

You are right...they are hard to find. I would recommend logging on to a PRS forum called Birds and Moons www.birdsandmoons.com They do come up from time to time and IMHO, pretty good prices to boot. Good luck in your search.

Be careful with PRS basses. I used to own one. The older version, not the newer discontinued verson...
I loved that bass from a looks and feel perspective but I have to tell you that the pickups sounded like crap.
In fact Paul Reed Smith himself has said that they didn't put enough research into the first line of PRS basses. The single coil pickups sounded thin and were typically noisey, like most single coil pickups.
I kept playing it for about 6 months... Well because it was a PRS and I loved the way it looked and felt. But in the long run, I couldn't get over how it sounded and sold it for something that sounded much better.
I can't comment on the newer line because I've never picked one up... MY experience with the first series soured my perception.
If you're serious about getting one there are deals to be had on eBay because no-one will pay big buck for them because of the pickup issues. But please don't buy one without seeing it in person and plugging it in to hear it.
Wonderfully made basses... Too bad they don't sound nice.
