View Full Version : Rod, Ron, Ronnie and Company
Now that I'm close to 50 I find myself reminiscing about the old days alot. Next to Led Zep the Faces were my favorite band. Rod Stewert singing, Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane and others....made some of the best R&B and rock music ever. Here is a couple of examples. many of you know Maggie May, Mandolin Wind, Stay With Me, Oh La La etc.... Check them out, listen to them all, one of the best bands ever......

Agreed, The Faces were awesome. Thats the great thing about Youtube - I'd forgotten about a lot of this great music. Too bad that that Rod turned into a pop star instead of sticking with making great rock music with these guys. It it wasnt for Rod Stewart, the Black Crowes singer wouldn't have a stage act!

Hey Tarl,
I saw The Faces with Rod Stewart at the Agrodome in Vancouver back in the day, and they rocked about as hard as anybody I ever heard live. Great show and I still fondly remember it. "Around The Plynth" still gets me going. Glad I got to see Rod before he turned in to a lounge act.

Those were definitely Rod's glory days! Excellent clips, and I find it interesting after watching them that Woody sure lays back and lets Keith have the spotlight in the Stones, doesn't he?

P.S. Watching those videos got me off on a tangent including Johnny Winter, Foghat, Muddy Waters...ain't youtube grand?

The Faces were terrific but let's not forget how they started. This was the best front man at the time, bar none.

True.......although my favorite Small Faces song was always Song of a Baker that Ron sang. Very powerful but simple, I think it's fantastic.
