I jus got a new guitar and i want to make some upgrades to it. In a couple of weeks im going to install sperzel locking tuners. The guitar already has a floating bridge, with tremolo system, etc. I was wondering, would locking tuners b e able to do the job of a floyd? I mean, would i be able to do dives and go crazy and still have the guitar stay in tune as well?
I don't really understand howa floyd rose works or what EXACTLY it does. If i install the locking tuners, do I still have to install the floyd?

I am putting together a Super Strat for myself (when I have time to work on it), and it has a single locking floyd, Graph Tech Nut and Wilkinson double hole tuners.
I hope to get it finished soon after tax season, so I'll let you know how it works out.
Oops! Should have read the post a little slower... Yes you can get a floating system other than a floyd to work, I think the nut material is more important that the locking tuners though. Every little bit helps, locking tuners do what they are supposed to do - allow you very little excess string around the post.
