Allied Electronics (online) out of Ottawa would likely have something with the same specs. However, get ready for the price with shipping.
You should only need to match the specs (it doesn't have to be made by the same manufacturer)
Wait until someone else responds before ordering.
Someone might just have one of these...and...I want to be sure that I'm correct regarding my suggestions.
Are you sure there are no other problems with the amp that would cause this to happen?
Good Luck
Dave
Any local electronics stores nearby?

Got a power bar with surge suppression? Open it up and see if it has a compatible replacement inside.
I just poped one I had laying around....

You could also bypass the surge protector in the AMP and just use a surge protected power bar with the amp until you find a suitable replacement part.
ok..good idea..but how do i know it's a good replacement?

These type of surge suppressors are actually called varistors. A varistor is a funny sort of resistor that has a high resistance until you hit its design voltage, at which point it starts to rapidly drop in resistance as the voltage increases. So it acts as a limiter for a voltage spike, shorting it out.
It doesn't snap into a short at the specified voltage. Rather it starts to "leak" voltage more and more as the spike exceeds the set point.
Notice how the part number on the device starts with 130. That means it starts to work on any voltage over 130 vac. Line voltage is around 120.
Now here's the good news: If you're scrounging a varistor from any power bar or other piece of equipment where the varistor is wired across the voltage coming from the wall, they ALL will start at 130 vac! So they all will be an acceptable substitute.
They do come in bigger sizes that will handle bigger energy spikes but no matter who makes them a similar rating means pretty well the same size. That's just physics.
They're not polarized, so it doesn't matter which lead goes to which side.
I really don't see how you can go wrong!

Shouldn't that be the tech's job? If he doesn't want to do it, send a note to Mesa Boogie tech support and ask them for the replacement part number
Just saw Bill's reply...looks like that may be an easier approach...

I jsut got a mail from boogie, the replacement part is referenced to General Electric #V130LA20A, but finding one is another thing. as for the tech's job..yes is should be, but i don't want to wait the 6 to 8 weeks he's gonna take to find one and install it..:)

It is always so cool to learn so much from these threads.
(as electronics interests me).
I don't feel confident to offer much advice...so I thank those of you that comment and explain, hence teaching me/us.
Peace

This is a VERY common electronic part! If you look in the yellow pages for electronic parts distributors I'm sure there are a few in Ottawa or wherever you are.
It might cost about $1.00. Any such store should recognize the GE part number. They would have the GE part or an equal - same part made by someone else with their own part number.
Heck, even Rat Shack might carry this one!
Just find an electronic parts store. In that world it's like going to Crappy Tire and asking for a spark plug. No big deal.
