Took me a long time to do it too. when I bought the guitar it was repainted over the original finish, Kramer paint is a bitch to get off too, had to use a paint stripper and then put the guitar thru a plainer to get the top and back off even and then sanded the cutaways and cavities by hand. Once everything was sanded smooth I rubbed one coat of stain on it, let it dry a few days then sprayed 3 very light coats of polyurathane semi-gloss clear. It's protected, but you can still almost feel the grain. Taking the original paint off really opened up the sound. Here's a better pic of it.

I have an old Pacer, body is from about 83-84 and the neck is 81 or 82. The headstock predates the hockey h eadstock or the pointy headstock (which is a good thing if you ask me)
It is an OK guitar but it rarely gets any action anymore..and it needs new frets BADLY.

Nice job! It looks great!
I'm restoring a 6000 exactly like that!!! I know what you mean about the original paint! I had to strip off a secondary (and really crappy) paint job THEN take care of the original finish (It was hot pink so I understand why the last guy painted over it!) It took some pretty caustic chemicals and a lot of elbow grease but I'm now in the process of painting it white. (pics will be posted when she's done) It'll be my first paint job so I'm not sure how well it'll turn out.
I'm redoing the entire electonic cavity from the ground up. You wouldn't happen to have a wiring diagram for one of these bad boys wouldya?

I wired it up as a standard strat wiring scheme... 1 volume, 2 tone, 5 way. I used a wiring diagram on seymourduncan.com as a guide. HOWEVER, my humbucker is a dimarzio tone zone so I had to make sure the proper color wire went to the right place in the circuit. My coil tap switch for the humbucker is used to switch the humbucker from series wiring to parallel.

My humbucker is a Dimarzio Tone Zone. not sure what the dc resistance of it is, all I know it really suited this guitar better then the Duncan JB that was in it before.
