OK., well, i'm stating to play a lot of metal with my friends again, and i need a shredder basicaly..or a nice axe with a Floyd. I don't want to put holes in my strat or LP realy..:)

i've checked a few Ibanez Prestige, the Schecter and now looking for a ESP dealer to check those. i had enough Jacksons so wanna try something different.

Give me ideas on models you know or have tried. let's keep it under 1200$ if possible.

Look at Washburns with Floyds. Some of the Nuno series might do the trick... don't know if you can get one that'll come in under 12 bills but they're worth a look. Nice guitars, well made, nicely balanced.

Right now, this Ibanez cought my eye, it's very nice looking, good trem on it and the HSH configuration is pretty intressting.

Slick-looking Ibanez, alright. I especially like the input jack. Very clean look.

I just ordered one of these. I think they look great, and only a little jjump above the 1570. Can be had for around $1000

@Drazden, yeah, my choice in Ibanez was between a RG and S Prestige series so far.

@Toastman, those deans actually play pretty good, but we play old school metal..hehe..not the new stuff and that would'nt fit me to much anyway..:)

@danbo, no need for a 7string for metal..:)

I also play old school metal and that guitar can play it, trust me. It's not a nu metal guitar or anything like that. It's onw of Dime's guitar

The Ibanez S-series are great. Very fast neck and very light. The downside I had with them, at the time, is 22 frets. I haven't tried the new trem system yet though - zero resistance. I plan to eventually get one.

Can't go wrong with the RG's. I think a new Prestige RG 1550 goes for around $900 now.
Of course, if you can manage to find the old RG 550's, that would be suitable as well.

Another good series to check out would be the Ibanez SZ series. They're a thick, meaty guitar, but still light somehow. I believe they have 24 frets, but I could be wrong. I was in love with those guitars (SZ720FM) for a while. I would also suggest looking at something ESP, especially for metal and again, especially if you're into active pickups on the higher end models. Plus, at most places now, because the Canadian dollar is doing so good and ESPs are American/American-made guitars, you can get them for a decent price. I was looking at the ESP F-400FM (not a big floating bridge/string lock fan), and it's the highest quality of that model, and I can get it for less than $800 before taxes, etc.

I have never seen a commercially available ESP that is made in America. Even the high end ones are Japanese. Unless you are a Rock star you won't be getting a US made ESP....even then you are pretty much assured of getting a Japanese made guitar. Which is fine, Japanese guitars are excellent.

They actually discontinued the SZ this year (and, if I recall, they were 22 frets.) Awesome guitars, though. I wish I'd have jumped on one when they were blowing out the 720's... Great looking, great playing... They had it all.

The new replacement, the SZR... I don't like it nearly as much.

Yes, the SZ's were 22 frets. The SZR's were done keeping in mind of the new trem Ibanez developed. You can get some S-series guitars with 24 frets now!

ESP/Caparison/Ibanez - i know Ibanez has their LACS, which are only available to their roster, ESP Custom shop is Japan and I dont know if Caparisons are handmade or what but they are also Japan.

www.myspace.com/theabsence - good use of a Caparison Horus :D lol
