How do I get that aged look on a maple neck. I've got one here with a scratch I'd like to fix it but I can't figure out how to get it to match the existing yellow aged look (it isn't old, its actually new).

if the scratch is down to the wood, you could fill it with some poly or lacquer- just kind of wick it in with a small tool- the finish yellows with age, the wood does too, but less quickly- and if its pretty new, could be just that the unfinished wood looks whiter than the wood thats still got its finish.
how big of a scratch is it? ive had luck colouring small areas with water paints so itll match when drop filled-

Thanks Fraser. Its surface stuff not deep at all, just to say the lacquer has been
scraped. Andy from Diffusion Audio suggested using a Sharpie marker from Staples. They make one that is wood colored. His technique involves coloring the scratch then wiping it and repeating until the desired effect is achieved.
It hardly shows anyway and will go down as character marks in a year or so if I can't hide it. I've also read about getting a few drops of yellow in varnish to get that effect.
