Just thought I'd post this trio of what may be the finest electric guitars made today. I was lucky enough to have a friend's Johann Gustavsson Bluesmaster over the other day. So I thought I'd get out mine and take a group shot.

Pete, you speak really highly of these: how did you find them? And where can one try one out?

Everytime you post pictures of one or more of these I feel like I am going to throw up.

It makes me sick just how beautiful they are.

I'm torn...part of me wants to stop looking at them (as I'll never spend that much on a guitar)...the rest says keep the pics coming.

Pete, you speak really highly of these: how did you find them? And where can one try one out?

I found out about them through a friend that happened into Wildwood Music in Colorado back 03'. He was turned onto them by Steve Mespe at Wildwood. Steve is one great player and only ever had vintage guitars in his personal stash. Steve bought a JG as soon as they came into the store. My friend, who is a bit of a guitar snob himself, played one and could not stop talking about it. He kept saying to me....Pete...you have to get one of these period. I was not able to get one till 05'.
It is the only new guitar I've ever had in my hands that has the vibe, the feel and the sound of a great 58 thru 60 Les Paul. And I mean great. Not every one of those holy grails (58-60 LP's) have been of the caliber that I would pay much attention to let alone consider buying (back when I might have been able to afford one ). But the few I've played that have that magic.....are haunting. Well the JG has that kind of magic....as far as I'm concerned.
I bought mine without ever playing or seeing one in the flesh. I just thought that it would be good and took the dive. I remember being in the parking lot at Fed Ex when the guitar came in. I ripped open the box, opened the case on top of my trunk and played the guitar right there in the lot for about 20 minutes. It was beyond what I ever thought it would be. I don't think there are any stores other than Wildwood in Colorado that might have one to try. But...if you are ever in Toronto and have the time, drop by and give her a go here at my place.

cheers
Pete

nice pics as always Pete, that little sony camera is quite awesome ! (its the guy pointing the iris as well! ;)

guys, I played Pete's 2 (hum/p90) without a doubt, the finest modern made gtrs that I have encountered period. Pete was lucky to get on-board when they were "affordable" , now they are pretty pretty pricey.

the hum one is my fav, something that one has "vintage to the max, with just a hint of anger " !!!......how's that for cork sniffery!:food-smiley-004:

thanks for sharing Pete !

Oh by the way Steve......Still got the little Sony but I recently got a NEW camera. My first Digital SLR, I got a Lumix (Panasonic) DMC L1. I've lusted over this camera for quite a while and finally found out it was on sale a month ago (which probably means a new better model is coming). I love using it manually.

nice picts man. a small tip when you're doing close-up photography, buy a small can of compress air, the kind with a small staw to direct the spay, this way you can remove all dust from the instrument easily..:) And get a piece of white carboard about 24" square, and always put it beside the camera if you can, this will reflect the incomming light about 20%, so will fill in the darker shadows JUST enough to avoid loosing details..:)

Doctor, you are killing me with those JG's! Modern classics.
I need to hear one of those through your Mazerati GT (bring the Airbrake) in Bradford a few weeks from now.
Unreal...Eric

Okay Doctor you are on.....that's what I was waiting for. the Maz GT won't do country...but my gawd it will rock out. Without pedal too.
I spent about two hours last week with the JG, the GT, and one of my Marshall 4x12s.......stick a fork in me and put me in the ground !!!!!!!!
I was in absolute sonic nirvana.

Build quality on those seems to be exceptional, Pete. Some sweet looking guitars. Are you selling again?

I'm sorry. This is guitar porn of the highest order. You will have to delete that picture,.. and give those guitars to me.

So I can take pho-to-graphs,... nudge nudge, wink wink.

I'll revive this thread (and everyone's GAS) by saying: there's a Bluesmaster for sale on TGP right now (http://thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=403253). Only...$12.5k...which, most unfortunately, didn't actually put an end to my desire to own one of these fine guitars.
