I was flicking through the channels last night and happened to come across a show called The Dakota Sessions on CMT last night. I've never heard of the show before. It was Kathleen Edwards playing songs from her new CD, along with tasty, tasty guitar provided by Colin Cripps (nice new Tele!) and Jim Bryson. Anyway, if you happen to see it listed, its worth checking out. The show ran for 30 minutes. There was then another Dakota Sessions, this time with Jimmy Rankin. I didn't enjoy his stuff that much, though his guitar player/backing singer was an awesome guitarist.

An excellent hour of entertainment from a station that I don't usually watch that much.

I haven't seen that show (Dakota Sessions) but I have seen her on Austin City Limits, and she really puts on a good show. I'll watch for the Dakota Sessions one. Thanks!

Colin's great. For you Hamilton folks, he used to work at Reggie's on John St way back when.

He's also played with Crash Vegas, Junkhouse, Jim Cuddy, and is now married to, and plays with Kathleen.

I guess he's got a '59 burst and other vintage guitars. Saw a photo on another forum of Kathleen holding it. She's an example of some of the great new talent that's under the radar.
