I just got home after a lengthy drive and Blodwyn Pig was on my iPod.
Does anyone else dig this old band???? I LOVE them !!!!!
Mick Abrahams, the guitarist, was in Jethro Tull. He and Ian Anderson didn't see eye to eye so he left after their first album to start the PIG. There is a definite Tull sort of vibe going on but....more agressive and a little more adventurous than Tull was at the time. I love Mick's playing, a little jazz with a little blues and a whole lot of rock. An early SG special into HiWatt amps I believe. Killer rthymn section and a great sax player.
I was turned onto them back in grade 9 (1970). A local band played a couple of their tunes. My band back then of course had to copy them so we started playing the same two tunes (See My Way and Summer Day) They only made two records then.......pppfffftttt !!!
Of course they are never played on the radio (except 3WK Classic Underground www.3wk.com Great Station !!!!!), I don't think they ever were !!!! So for those interested in a bit of very progessive rock with a rootsy vibe. Check them out.
Cheers
Pete
